Abstract

Nosocomial infections are one of the top challenges and concerns in Vietnam and around the world. The consequences of hospital-acquired infections are very severe, increasing the mortality rate, prolonging the length of stay in treatment, and increasing health care costs. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the rate of hospital-acquired infections (BV) in European countries accounts for about 5%, in low- and middle-income countries it is 5.7% - 19.1% of the total number of people hospitalized. In Vietnam, the rate of BV infection ranges from 3.5% to 10% of hospitalized people. This is one of the leading causes threatening patient safety, increasing complications, days of treatment, hospital costs and mortality.

The hospital infection rate is one of the important indicators reflecting the professional quality of the hospital, related to the safety of patients and medical staff. Infection control must be carried out synchronously and strictly to prevent the spread of disease with specific plans and reasonable processes, as well as professional training on infection control for employees. medical.
