Abstract

Lipid disorders in patients with type 2 diabetes related to insulin resistance. Insulin resistance reduces the effectiveness of LPL enzyme, leading to reduced inhibition of the release of fatty acids from post-meal adipose tissue, and increased free flow of fatty acids to the liver to produce too much VLDL, resulting in an increase in triglyceride reducing VLDL clearance, reduction in the surface composition of VLDL, reduction of raw materials for HDL synthesis. An other, increasing in triglycerides transports to HDL, which increases HDL catabolism. Reduced synthesis and increased HDL catabolism are causes of decreased HDL levels. Reducing HDL levels and increasing triglyceride levels are two main characteristics of lipid metabolism disorders in type 2 diabete patients. When blood glucose control is good, lipid disorders decrease but not return to normal.
