Abstract
Background: The rate of type 2 diabetes is increasing in Vietnam. However, it is preventable. Good HbA1c and fasting blood glucose control will limit complications for patients with type 2 diabetes. In addition, it is necessary to adhere to proper nutrition, physical activity and medications. Purpose: (1) Describe the treatment result of type 2 diabetes (2) Find out some factors related to treatment result. Subjects and study methods: The cross- sectional study was conducted with 271 type 2 diabetes patients who received outpatient treatment at the Center for eye - endocrinology Quang Binh Province in 2020. Results: Mean HbA1c and fasting blood glucose were 7.22 ± 1.71% and 9.01 ± 3.82 mmol/l, respectively. The result of good HbA1c control was 35.4% and not good control was 64.6%. The result of good fasting blood glucose control was 11.8% and not good control was 88.2%. The treatment results were based on both HbA1c and fasting blood glucose concentration with the good control only accounted for 9.2%. There was an association between time to diagnosis, knowledge and adherence practice (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Need to further improve counseling on treatment adherence with type 2 diabetes patient
