Abstract
Objective : Assess some risk factors in prediabetes.Subject research : Healthy Vietnamese people from 30 to 69 years old had their health care in out – patient department from 2/2012 to 10/2012. Methods: descritive cross-sectional study. Results : The prevalence of prediabetes and diabetes increases with age, lowest in aged 30– 39 (24,4%) and highest in aged 60 – 69 (49,6%). The risk of prediabetes in patients with BMI from and over 23 is 1,3 fold higher than in patiens with normal BMI. Patients with hypertension had a 3,8 fold higher risk of prediabetes than whom without hypertension. The risk of prediabetes is 3,8 fold higher in patients with dyslipidemia than in patients without dyslipidemia, p < 0,001, 95% CI = [2,871 ; 5,088]. The prevalence of prediabetes in male is 31,5%, in female is 68,5% and there is no difference between two genders. Conclusions : There is a strong association between the risk of prediabetes and age, hypertension, dyslipidemia and BMI. There is no association between the risk of prediabetes and gender.
