Abstract

Introduction: Measuring the Quality of Life (QoL) in diabetic patients by the WHOQOL-BREF toolkit in Da Nang City, in general, and Son Tra District, in particular, has not been implemented extensively. Objective: Evaluating the quality of life and determining some related factors of diabetic patients in the outpatient clinic at Son Tra Medical Centre, Da Nang City, in 2021. Methods: A cross- sectional descriptive study and analysis of QoL in diabetic patients in the outpatient clinic at Son Tra Medical Centre, Da Nang City, from January 1st, 2021, to September 30th, 2021, were conducted. The WHOQOL- BREF questionnaire, which includes four sections: physical health, psychological health, social relationships, and environment, was used. Results: The average QoL score in this study was 59.7. The average scores of four sections (physical health, psychological health, social relationships, and environment) are 57.9; 55.8; 61.2; 63.4, respectively, with 100% of patients having moderate or higher QoL (mean QOL score: 72.3% and high QOL score: 27.7%). In this study, several factors associated with QOL in patients with diabetes, such as gender, age, education level, glucose (blood), BMI, and comorbidities, were evaluated. Conclusion: QOL of people with diabetes was moderate or higher. There is no low QOL score. Regarding four sections of the patient's QOL, they were of moderate to high quality. Maintaining a high QOL level and raising the QOL for patients with a moderate level is necessary.
