Abstract
This study aimed to investigate ocular complications in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes patients at Phu Tho Provincial General Hospital. The study was conducted on 92 newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes diagnosed according to Vietnam Society of Endocrinology- Diabetes 2020 criteria at the Department of Endocrinology - Diabetes, Phu Tho Provincial General Hospital from August 2020 to June 2021. The results showed that the proportion of ocular complications in patients with newly discovered diabetes was 70.65%. In there, vision loss accounted for 60.87%, cataracts 59.78%, diabetic retinopathy was 21.74%, the rate of non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy 1.09%, the rate of pre- proliferative diabetic retinopathy accounted for 20.65%. None of the patients had proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Currently, patients with glaucoma and macular edema have not been detected. It is necessary to deploy more tests and techniques to evaluate ocular complications, to early detection and treatment of complications, especially diabetic retinopathy.
