Abstract
Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of continuous epidural infusion (CEI) with Ropivacaine 0.1% and Fentanyl 2 mcg/mL for labor pain relief. Materials and Methods: A clinical study was conducted on 65 new mothers who received epidural anesthesia at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Da Nang Family Hospital, from January 2022 to December 2022. Results: The average onset time was 3.03 ± 1.08 minutes. Visual Analog Scale (VAS) score was greater than 7 before epidural anesthesia, and less than 3 after epidural anesthesia at all times. Average blood pressure, SpO2, and heart rate remained stable during labor. The procedure caused minimal movement inhibition and did not affect the fetal Apgar score, which remained above 7. Maternal satisfaction rate was high at 87.7%. Side effects such as shivering, itching, vomiting, and nausea were less than 10%. Conclusion: The results suggest that continuous infusion epidural analgesia with Ropivacaine 0.1% and Fentanyl 2 mcg/mL is effective for labor pain relief, with few side effects and increased maternal satisfaction.
