Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the effect of nursing care in patients after thyroid cancer surgery at Thai Nguyen National Hospital. Methods: Descriptive, Cross sectional study design. Results: The group of patients 40-49 years old accounts for 36.7%. Time to detect disease > 1 year accounted for 41.7%. The number of patients who have metastasized lymph nodes was 55%. The pain intensitylevelon BPI scale (Mean ± SD) showed the severe pain within 24 hours after surgery with an average score of 6.8 ± 1.48; Percentage of pain relief in the last 24 hours (6.13 ± 1.76). The main painkillers being treated are second-line painkillers (26.7%). The level of pain hindered in the past 24 hours is the obstacle to enjoying life and hindering normal activities (7.33 ± 1.02) and (6.53 ± 1.21), respectively. Monitoring and care of patients after surgery of nurses is quite good, the number of patients with fever, pain and blood tests and calcium injections as prescribed (8,3%). Implemented analgesics according to the order of 1,2,3 (55%). Percentage of pain relief in the last 24 hours (6.13 ± 1.76). All patients were instructed on diet and exercise after surgery according to the procedure, 100% of the patients were removed from hospital only after 7 days of treatment. Quality of life after surgery patients overall score (21.11 ± 10.57). physical quality of life score (33.78 ± 22.96). The reasons for low physical scores are the following symptoms: affecting sleep (73.33 ± 32.93); fatigue (70.37 ± 24.09); pain (61.11 ± 26.51). Conclusion: The nursing carefor postoperative thyroid cancer patients at Thai Nguyen Oncology Center is very practical and highly effective in using of the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI): Postoperative pain evaluation and European questionnaire on quality of life EORTC QLQ- C30. Contributing to the work of monitoring and care for patients is increasingly improved.
