Abstract
Background: Diabetes is one of the common non-communicable diseases globally, one of the leading causes of death in the world and in Vietnam. People with diabetes, if detected late, hospitalized cases are often accompanied by serious complications. This is the cause, making the cost of treatment increase and become a burden not only for the patient, the patient’s family, but also for the immediate and long- term socio-economy. Research objective: Describe the current status of management of patients with type 2 diabetes at Tien Giang Central General Hospital in 2022. Research method: descriptive cross section. Results: Through the study of 214 people with type 2 diabetes, the age group of 51-70 accounted for the highest rate of 65%. Female 58.9%, male 41.1%; disease duration over 10 years accounted for the highest rate of 44%, with an associated complication 63.1%, Family history of diabetes was 55.1%; activity of monotherapy drug treatment is 25.8%, combined oral and injection is 29.4%; payment according to health insurance rate is 51.9%, periodical management of postprandial blood glucose test is fully implemented at 95.3%, HbA1c is fully implemented periodically at 49.5%; Periodic re-examination is 81.8%. Conclusion: There is a relationship between drug adherence with HbA1c (with p= 0.002) and adherence with fasting blood glucose (with p= 0.001); disease duration with HbA1c (with p=0.017). And there was no relationship between disease duration and fasting blood sugar (with p=0.63).
