Abstract

Background: In 2017, a study by Ian Langtree showed that the average height of young people in Vietnam aged 20-25 years old in men is 165.7cm and in women is 155.2cm. As for weight, in the report of ADBI Institute in 2013, Vietnam has 13.1% of the population in the state of obesity, an increase of 125.9% compared to 1990 and Vietnam is also the country with the highest increase in Southeast Asian countries. As for students, research by Le Ba Tuong and Nguyen Huu Tri at Can Tho University in 2016 showed that the overweight and obesity rate accounted for 4.51%, 80.6% of which was assessed at the overweight level. In Da Nang, there have not been many studies on the indicators of height, weight, overweight and obesity in general and student health in particular. Objective: Evaluation of anthropometric indicators and nutrition status of course students 26 in Duy Tan University. Method: A cross-sectional study. Results: The average height of the study sample was 163.3 ± 8.7 cm, the average weight of the study sample was 54.3 ± 11.3 kg. 90.0% of students in the sample have a type I fitness classification, 60.5% of students have a normal BMI. 6.5% of students are overweight and 1.4% of students are obese. Male students have higher rates of overweight and obesity than female students.
