Abstract
Objectives: Describe nutritional status, obesity rate and evaluate the correlation between body fat mass and body mass index of children 6 and 7 year olds in Buon Ma Thuot. Methods: A cross-sectional study in 198 children, including 127 6-year-olds and 71 7-year-olds. Using WHO 2007 standards to diagnose overweight - obesity. Use chi- squared test for qualitative variables; T test for two independent variables, linear regression for quantitative variables. Results: The obesity rate of the study sample is 32.6%, the obesity rate in the 6-year-old group is 33.1% and the 7-year-old group is 31%. The obesity rate among boys is 33.6% and women are 31.0%. There is a correlation between BMI and PBF in both age groups. In the 6-year-old group, the regression equation is BMI = 10.78 + 0.257 * PBF, with the correlation coefficient R = 0.993. In the 7-year-old group, the regression equation is BMI = 10.18 + 0.271 * PBF, with a correlation coefficient R = 0.926.
