Abstract

Osteoporosis is a metabolic disorder of the bones damage to bone strength leading to an increased risk of fracture[31]. Treatment of osteoporosis includes non- pharmacological methods, intake adequate calcium and vitamin D daily, antiresobtive drugs and surgical intervention when fractures  occurred[31,32].  Treatment of  osteoporosis,  like  the  treatment of other chronic diseases, requires adherence to medication timing, dose, and duration to achieve disease control goals. However, the rate of compliance with osteoporosis medication is still low from 32-45% [23,24,25] and the consequences are not small for patients and society[19,20,21,22]. Causes of non- adherence to treatment with osteoporosis medications can come from the patient himself, from the Physician or from the health management system. We would like to overview of Osteoporosis adherence by analyzing native and international studies to see the underlying causes and based on that to make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of compliance osteoporosis drug treatment.
