Abstract

Background: Dyslipidemia is one of the public health problems and the main cardiovascular risk factors. The study was conducted to determine serum ferritin concentration, ferritin increase rate in serum and evaluate the relationship between serum ferritin concentration with bilan lipid components. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study with a controlled comparison in 156 patients at the Department of General Internal Medicine – Geriatrics, collected cardiovascular risk factors caused by atherosclerosis and diabetes mellitus, biland lipid blood and blood ferritin test. Results: The mean ferritin concentration in dyslipidemia group was 544.21 ± 351.28 ng/ml, higher than the control group (118.56 ± 64.58 ng/ml); There was a significant difference in the rate of increase of serum ferritin, average concentration of ferritin between the two groups  dyslipidemia  and the  control group (p<0.001); The rate of increase of serum ferritin in the dyslipidemia group was 100%; Rate of serum ferritin increase in people with increased LDL-C is 100%, in people with reduced HDL-C is 100%, in people with increased TG is 100%, in people with TC increase is 100%. The average ferritin concentration in the subjects with dyslipidemia with 2 elements (Increased LDL-C, TG) and 3 elements (Increased LDL-C, TG, TC) is the highest with mean value and standard deviation, is: 654.67 ± 479.98 ng/ml. Conclusions: There is a close relationship between ferritin concentration and dyslipidemia.
